What wax is used in our candles?

How do I care for my soy wax candle?

Here’s how to get the best performance from our soy wax candles:

• Trim the wick to 5mm before each burn to prevent soot and mushrooming.

• Let the wax melt evenly, all the way across the top to the edges of the container to prevent tunnelling.

• Burn in a draft-free area to ensure even burning.

• Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Sunlight exposure or certain fragrance oils can cause wax discolouration. Store candles in a cool, dark place to prevent this.

How long should I have my candle lit?

Generally, burn your candles for 1-4 hours at a time. If the candle is lit for any longer or the wick is too large, the excessive heat can degrade the fragrance, making it fade faster. Fragrance oils have specific temperature limits.

Why does my candle give off black smoke?

Black smoke (soot) is caused by a wick that is too long or in a drafty environment. Trim the wick to 5mm before each burn and keep the candle away from fans and open windows.

What is candle tunnelling?

Tunnelling happens when only the centre of the wax melts, leaving wax stuck to the sides of the container. Prevent it by burning the candle until the entire surface melts (usually 1-4 hours).

Why is my candle wax uneven after burning?

Uneven burning is usually due to drafts or an untrimmed wick. Keep the candle in a draft-free area and trim the wick before lighting.

Why is my candle wick mushrooming?
